 Should humanists eat animals?

Phil Walder gave this talk last year and we’ve rescheduled because we have received so many requests for him to present it again.

As a Humanist, Phil believes in the ‘Human Project’ and is fascinated by the incredible ingenuity of our species. However, he doesn’t believe that the future success of the human race should be at the expense of the other species that share this planet, and the health of our environment. He argues that, apart from the moral questions about killing and eating animals, the best thing that each of us can do for the planet, is to become vegetarian.

Phil Walder has been a member of the BHA for 16 years and has been a vegetarian for over 30 years. He’s also been a member and a supporter of CLHG for many year.

He started his first business when he was 25 and has been avoiding real work ever since. He originally took a BSc in Environmental Science, but has also studied philosophy and politics.

Profit from our charity wine bar will go to Phil’s chosen charity The Humane Society.

Please note, we don’t charge an annual subscription but ask for an entrance fee of £3 to help towards the hire of the venue and equipment.

Doors open at 6.30 pm for talk at 7.00 pm

Please arrive early to have a glass of wine from our charity wine bar, find your seat and chat with other members.
