Join the Verona Quartet for an evening of Mendelssohn, Beethoven and Bacecicz. At the tender age of sixteen, Mendelssohn’s First String Quartet in E flat can be seen as a personal letter from a number one fan to his greatest idol. With direct references to Beethoven’s quartets, the Op. 12 quartet reveals a humble but visionary composer poised not only to take on the mantle of his idols but to usher forward the next era of music making.

The Benyounes Trio is a newly formed ensemble made up of three of the UK’s most versatile and experienced chamber musicians. Zahra is well known as leader of the quartet that bears her name, Jeremy is a critically acclaimed collaborative pianist, and Eve-Marie the group’s cellist is a member of the London Symphony Orchestra and formerly cellist of the Psopphos Quartet.

Ensemble V was formed to record the Piano Quintet of the British composer Kenneth V. Jones - and they take their name from his middle initial! In this concert they will combine Jones' rhythmically quirky and spookily atmospheric Quintet with some of his shorter works, and two absolute masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire by Mozart & Dvořák.

The Greenwich Trio perform much-loved masterworks to mark the centenary of the death of Gabriel Fauré: Fauré’s penultimate work, the Trio in D minor; Beethoven's epic Archduke; and Schubert’s sublime Notturno. You will also hear the UK premiere of Lalai by German composer Barbara Heller, who is celebrating her 88th birthday this year!
