Mindfulness: beyond the hype – with Ed Halliwell

Join us for an inspiring evening as Ed Halliwell looks beyond the hype about mindfulness and shares practical ways to be more mindful in everyday life.

Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in Mindfulness. But alongside increasing scientific evidence and public interest, there has also been lot of misunderstanding and hype. Ed Halliwell gets back to the ‘heart of mindfulness’ – by exploring the origins and intentions of the practice, as a sustained way of working with the challenges of life, rather than as a quick fix.

Cutting through the hype, he shares his personal experiences of how mindfulness can help in difficult times, as well as providing some grounded and practical ways we can become more appreciative of the joys – and cope better with the stresses – of daily life.

Ed shows us in a remarkably moving way how mindfulness worked for him. And then he shows how it can also work for millions of others who seek a calmer, deeper mode of life” ~ Professor Lord Richard Layard

Ed Halliwell is a mindfulness teacher and writer. In his late 20s he suffered serious depression and anxiety and found that practising mindfulness completely changed his life. He now leads public mindfulness courses, workshops and retreats and teaches mindfulness in organisations.

Ed is author of The Mindful Manifesto, Mindfulness: How To Live Well By Paying Attention and his newest book Into The Heart of Mindfulness. He also writes for Mindful magazine, is an advisor to The Mindfulness Initiative and co-edited the influential Mindful Nation report.

Ed shares how mindfulness helped him battle his own demons. Even more, he shares practical guidance and tips that will be invaluable to many of us struggling with the stresses, strains and anxieties of life” ~ Jenny Edwards CBE, Chief Executive, Mental Health Foundation
