#HelpOften: Clean Up & Conservation at Tower Hamlets
3rd September 2017 · 12:00pm - 4:30pm
In person | Virtual event
On Sunday 3rd September we will be donning our wellies, take along our eager beaver #helpoften muscles and will join a fantastic practical nature conservation session, including planting, weeding and general tidying, facilitated by the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
The session will run from 1.30pm – 4.30pm. For those that are coming to Sunday Assembly, we will head over from Conway Hall and will meet at the front of the hall by the #HelpOften table before 12.30pm; for those that wish to meet us there, please let Kirsty know by emailing salondoncommunityaction@gmail.com and we will meet you outside the Soanes Centre, which is on your right once you’ve entered via the main gates on Southern Grove. The nearest tube station is Mile End
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear, in particular sturdy shoes, wellies or boots. You may also wish to bring some snacks and drinks as there are no refreshments available in the park. All tools and gloves will be provided, but if you have your own you are welcome to bring them along.
More about Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park?
Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park is truly the historic green heart of Tower Hamlets. 31 acres of broad leaf woodland in a closed 19th century cemetery, surrounded by tower blocks and estates, where 1000s of people live. The Cemetery Park has an outstanding variety of wild plants and animals as well as plants which give clues to its history.
Check out this great BBC video to learn more about the park and those committed to conserving this beautiful inner-city woodland: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01fsf26
