City of London Soloists: Conway Hall Debut Concert

Repertoire

Mendelssohn: String Symphony no.7 in D minor

Haydn: Cello Concerto in D Major

Tchaikovsky: Serenade for Strings

Excitement, innovation and talent: this is what the City of London Soloists will be featuring in their official debut at Conway Hall.

The City of London Soloists are a string chamber orchestra based on the principles of equality and enterprise to give opportunities to young artists emerging into the competitive world of London’s concert scene.

Their official London debut presents much loved masterpieces like Tchaikovsky’s Serenade and Haydn’s cello concerto in D major, featuring the orchestra’s cellist Jacky Siu as soloist.

Message from the orchestra’s Founder and Artistic Director, Stavros Dritsas:

“We are young and keen to challenge the conventions and stereotypes surrounding classical music. Do join us after the concert in our first ‘A pint with the artists’ session at a surprise location, only a few minutes away from Conway Hall. ‘A pint with the artists’ is part of the orchestra’s endeavour to bring people closer to classical music and audiences even closer to musicians after our concerts in a casual manner. This is how you can also find out what makes our work so special, as well as many other things that will perhaps make you change your mind about the ‘serious’ and ‘boring’ music we play . You will not leave bored: we promise!”
