Sunday Concerts: Julieth Lozano & Lucy Colquhoun

A 2020 Kathleen Ferrier Award finalist and 2018 recipient of the President’s Award given by The Prince of Wales, soprano Julieth Lozano appeared in the BBC documentary Queen Victoria: My Musical Britain recorded in 2019 at Buckingham and Kensington palaces. She has recently been shortlisted for the Cardiff Singer of the World competition, and we are delighted to welcome her for her Conway Hall début.

Julieth will be joined by pianist Lucy Colquhoun, an increasingly popular figure in the world of song. Alongside her burgeoning career as a song pianist, she is also a member of staff at the Royal College of Music and has won numerous prizes.

The programme explores themes of love, passion and longing, in a selection of songs showcasing how folk song has permeated music across the globe. Alongside some well-known and loved composers, the recital will also give a platform to a number of lesser-known names, including Federico García Lorca, usually known as a poet but whose songs certainly deserve greater exposure.
