In a recital postponed from our summer 2024, we are pleased to welcome back Bartholomew LaFollette and Caroline Palmer in a selection of lyrical, dramatic and virtuosic works for cello and piano. Showcasing the expressive qualities of both instruments, the three sonatas in this programme represent the only cello sonatas written by each composer, culminating in Chopin’s final published opus – one of only 9 works published during his lifetime that were written for instruments other than the piano.
“Expressive and articulate (…) his music-making was notably free, imaginative and intelligent.” — Limelight
