Sunday Concerts – Quartetto Noûs
15th March 2015 · 6:30pm - 8:30pm
In person | Virtual event
Noûs (nùs), is an ancient greek word whose meaning is mind and therefore rationality, but also inspiration and creativity.
Quartetto Noûs, composed of four young Italian musicians, was founded in 2011 in “Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana” in Lugano, Switzerland.
They received their training at Accademia “Walter Stauffer” in Cremona in the class of Quartetto di Cremona and at “Musik Akademie” in Basel in the class of Reiner Schmidt (Hagen Quartet); they also had the chance to study with Aldo Campagnari (Quartetto Prometeo), Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartet), and Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet).
The quartet won the first prize at the International Competition “Luigi Nono” in Venaria Reale in Turin (2011) and at the XXI International Competition “Anemos” in Rome. In 2014 it was awarded a honorable mention at the “Sony Classical Talent Scout” in Madesimo, Italy.
Quartetto Noûs regularly performs for important concert seasons in Italy, and also in Germany, Switzerland and Spain (at “Monteleón Chamber Music Festival” in Leòn).
In 2015 the quartet was recently awarded the prestigious prize “Una vita nella musica” (“A life in music”), in the “youth category”, promoted by La Fenice Theatre in Venice.
