The salon:collective presents salon:lab See new work for theatre in the making A chance to see and discuss extracts from three new plays supported by the salon:lab script development project. After working with The salon:collective over recent weeks the writers ask the audience for feedback on their latest pieces. The resulting discussions are creative and wide-ranging. As one happy audience member said after the May salon:lab: “All the plays were exciting the actors shone and I’ve never ever heard such a stimulating Q&A.” All welcome to enjoy a taster of this month’s salon:lab plays: Dagenham Dave by Stew Mott is the tale of East End boy Ryan who has grown up believing his mother is dead. While he untangles the secrets and lies in his family there’s also conflict with his racist brother his Asian best mate and the girl who pushes all his personal and political buttons. Who’s Got Your Back? by Bonnie Adair explores themes of love and loyalty among London youths in the aftermath of the 2011 riots. Dancing in Red by Clive Walker introduces a bickering middle-aged couple dealing with the aftereffects of nuclear war: should they plan an efficient exit from the horror or take comfort in familiar routines? The salon:collective is a multi-disciplinary group of artists based at The Cockpit in London.
