Burn Out Prevention in Those Working in the Health and Human Professions

NOTICE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO A FAMILY BEREAVEMENT OF THE SPEAKER.

We know sickness absence and employee turnover cost far more than money.  The cost of Mental Health issues is estimated to be £100billion per annum (productivity, replacement staff, social cost). We lose 70 million days a year from the work place. The average cost of employing a member of staff is £30,000 and the Health and Human services professionals are consistently at the top of these expenses. How do we protect wellbeing and balance the complex demands of our professions? Can you safeguard your organisation and employees from burnout?

In this lecture we will discuss and consider:

— Whose health is it anyway?

— Can an organisation balance its wellbeing and its employee wellbeing?

— Why do we work in Health and Human professions

— Multi-model construct of protected wellbeing and burnout
