Event Navigation

Speaker Hassan Radwan proposes that “meaningful Islamic Reform can only come when Muslims challenge the belief that the Qur’an is infallible and stop placing revelation over reason. This will allow Muslims to unapologetically pick & choose according to reason, conscience & our very different context in the 21st century.”

Hassan Radwan has 1st class hons in Classical Arabic from SOAS University of London in 1984, his specialist subjects being Quranic commentary and Pre-Islamic poetry; 3 years as president of SOAS Students Islamic Society; 15 years as a teacher at Islamia Primary School in London; has written four books for Muslim children.

After a period of questioning his faith he became an Agnostic Muslim and campaigns for radical reform within Islam – in particular the need to recognise the Quran’s human origin. He translated “My Ordeal with the Quran” from Arabic to English; he founded the Agnostic Muslims and Friends Facebook group and runs the Agnostic Muslim Khutbahs blog. He’s an active member of the Inclusive Mosque Initiative in London.

Talk starts: 2.30pm

Main Hall (Ground floor – accessible. Induction loop audio).

Tea, coffee & biscuits will be available.
