 Learn about Apostasy

Join Humanists UK’s Faith to Faithless programme for a panel event to better understand apostasy in the UK.

Leaving religion can be a complicated process, and apostates often experience abuse from their family and communities. Emotional and physical abuse, shunning and disownment are all too common. In Britain, it is often particularly hard for ex-Evangelical Christians, ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses, ex-Muslims and ex-Ultra-Orthodox Jews.

Faith to Faithless was founded in 2015 by two ex-Muslims to support people like them who had experienced difficulties leaving religion. The organisation works to give a voice to minorities within minorities who are often suffering and invisible in society. Faith to Faithless trains social workers, police officers and teachers in how to better understand apostasy.

During this event, you will learn about the difficulties the ex-religious face and hear from apostates who have left multiple faiths. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for Q&A with the panel.

We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be an informative and thought-provoking evening.

Please note this event will be filmed.
