Ariadne presents in association with Conway Hall, Streetlink and The Connection at St Martin in the Fields:
SOD THIS (for a laugh)!
starring Sara Pascoe and friends
An evening of fun, friendship and fundraising in aid of homelessness in London.
On New Year’s Eve a kind, popular man called Paddy died of natural causes, exacerbated by the cold. It’s fair to say he gave up. He was 52 years old. He was homeless.
Every week after singing at St Martin in the Fields, Susannah Tresilian would spend some time with Paddy – who would be sitting outside Leicester Square tube station (Exit 1) come rain or shine. He loved the fact that she sang in a choir and would brush away questions about how he was with ‘So did you sing well tonight, did you?’.
After a few weeks of not seeing him, Susannah contacted Streetlink to inform them that he was missing. She subsequently discovered that he had passed away from his son, Patrick, who has ‘inherited’ Paddy’s patch, his tent, his dog.. his homelessness.
This is outrageous in our modern 21st century London.
So we are channelling our anger into something positive and useful: a fun evening of gigs, gags and information about what we can all do to help! Oh, and raising some money along the way.
There’ll be Sara Pascoe, some of the Showstoppers improvised musical comedy act, The Ruby Dolls and the St Martin in the Fields choir that Paddy was so proud of. And much more to be confirmed…..
Come and join us in saying ‘Sod this’. And having a laugh at the same time….
Standard tickets are £10, concession tickets £5, but if you can afford more you can also add a donation to your ticket. We’ll also be fundraising on the night – all proceeds to The Connection and Streetlink.
StreetLink is a website that enables the public to alert local authorities in England and Wales about people sleeping rough in their area. This service offers the public a means to act when they see someone sleeping rough, and is the first step someone can take to ensure rough sleepers are connected to the local services and support available to them. www.streetlink.org.uk
The Connection at St Martin in the Fields supports people away from the streets through specialist services including: a day & night centre, street outreach, help finding employment & specialist mental health & addiction support. https://www.connection-at-stmartins.org.uk/
