Conway Hall Ethical Society has been hosting and arranging courses of lectures since the late nineteenth century. Here are come early examples of lecture series on offer between 1890 and 1900.
These programmes (and others) reflect typical Victorian concerns of architecture, suffrage and government. But the lecture series also demonstrate the Society’s dedication to freedom of speech and humanist beliefs with lectures of a ‘popular character’ sitting alongside a critical analysis of British foreign and economic policy.
