Conway Hall are delighted to host a three month art residency by painter and printmaker, Barbara Marks. The exhibition starts in the foyer and continues along the corridor and through to The Brockway Room.
“My interest is in the vulnerable nature of paper and the varied responses it gives to paint. I aspire to connect colours’ spiritual nature through the purity of pigment. I love to explore how light and shade affect colour and form. It fascinates me how changes in scale influence how we see, how where we are positioned in time and space enables another view”.
Barbara Marks trained at Bradford School of Art and then studied Textile Design at the Central School of Art and Design in Holborn. The view from her studio during these years was of Red Lion Square and Conway Hall. In the nineties she took part in an art symposium in the Czech Republic and Dunkirk which inspired her to go back to study fine art at Middlesex University and at Kingsway College where she discovered a deep love of etching. Barbara shows internationally and her work forms part of many private collections.
