Michael Parkinson’s talk show Parkinson, which ran for eleven years from 1971, became essential viewing for millions all over the world. The BFI named Parkinson as one of the top ten British TV programmes of all time.
On radio, he presented Desert Island Discs (1986-87) and Parkinson on Sport for Radio 5 Live (1994-96.)
He was awarded a knighthood for services to broadcasting in the 2008 New Years’s honours and started his production company in 2008 which to date has produced a sell out Australian tour of his One Man show, bestselling Parkinson compilation DVD’S as well as original programmes and series for Sky Arts and the BBC in the UK and Channel Ten and Nine in Australia.
He is an author of several books including his best selling autobiography Parky published in 2008 and the recent bestseller Muhammad Ali: A memoir.
