History of Doubt in the Muslim World
13th September 2016 · 7:00pm - 9:00pm
In person | Virtual event
A presentation by Nourhan Nassar, founder & member of Arab humanists, followed by a discussion on doubt, skepticism and humanist thought in the Muslim world.
The presentation will be heavily based on Abdel Rahman Badaw’s book (in Arabic) ‘The history of Atheism in Islam’ and will go over some of the most famous doubters and heretics in Muslim history such as Al-Razi, Ibn Al-Rawandi, Al-Maa’rri, Al-Tawhidi and other. This will be followed by a general overview of how Greek thought might have influenced these thinkers, their main arguments and what ultimately happened to this tradition of scepticism.
This is an event by Arab Humanists and more details can be found on the Facebook event here: Arab Humanists on Facebook.
