The London School of Philosophy presents Hobbes Night London School of Philosophy are proud to host ‘Hobbes night’ at Conway Hall an educational and social event celebrating the life and work of Thomas Hobbes of Malmesbury (5 April 1588 – 4 December 1679). Thomas Hobbes is for many the greatest modern political philosopher. He also has a claim to being a great humanist being the first modern philosopher to attempt to found a complete moral and political philosophy on a scientific if controversial theory of human nature. A short lecture on Hobbes will be given by Dr Eleanor Curran of Kent Law School at the University of Kent who is an expert on Hobbes’s theory of rights. But the event will also be a social occasion with buffet provided and plenty of opportunity to mix with other guests and teachers at the London School of Philosophy.
