Prostitution: Behind the Scenes
14th July 2016 · 7:00pm - 10:00pm
In person | Virtual event
Prostitution is often referred to as the World’s Oldest Profession. In popular culture this mysterious underworld is depicted in film, music, books and television. From “Madame Bovary” to “Belle de Jour”, and from “Roxanne” to “Pretty Woman”, the lives of those who have lived inside prostitution have been shrouded in innuendo, romanticism and shadowy half-truths.
But what is it really like?
Four women who have worked in brothels, on streets and as escorts around the world, will speak at this no-holds-barred event. They’ll reveal the shocking truths of what prostitution is like. How they got into prostitution and why. What it was like to be paid for sex by thousands of customers. And how their lives are now, since they stepped out of the red light. A former client will also share his side of the story, revealing what led him to spend the majority of his married life paying other women for sex.
Contributors include Rachel Moran, Fiona Broadfoot, and Julie Bindel.
This event is not suitable for Under 18s.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to charities who offer support services to women in and exiting prostitution.
