 Psychoanalysis and the Russian Revolution: Freud and his followers in Russia Pre- and Post-1917

This talk from David Morgan will explore Sigmund Freud’s numerous connections with Russia; focusing on his influence among Russian analysts and their interactions with the international psychoanalytical movement, as well as assessing the Russian contribution to the development of psychoanalytical theories.

it will seek to situate these ideas within the context of social and political ideas during the early 20th century and how they were shaped in response to the momentous events of these decades.

David Morgan has been a professional editor and journalist for over thirty years. David is Secretary of the Socialist History Society and editor of its Occasional Publications series. David’s interests and research include literary history, the 17th century, modern Turkey and psychoanalysis. He has contributed articles to many publications and writes review essays, commentaries, opinion pieces, polemics and poetry.
