Humiliation – the personal fear of it and the professional bestowing of it upon others – is a huge part of our lives. We make choices based on avoidance of humiliation. But if we could overcome this fear how would it change our lives? Would it could it make us invincible? Is it even a good thing to be humiliated?; For the past two years Jon Ronson has been travelling through the world of humiliation – meeting the humiliators the publicly shamed those who were crushed by it and those who grew stronger. His quest – which will become his next book a follow-up to his bestseller The Psychopath Test- is to find a shame-free nirvana. He will unveil some of his findings during his sermon for The School of Life and show why humiliation may be a virtue not a vice.; Jon Ronson is a Welsh-born British journalist documentary filmmaker radio presenter and nonfiction author whose works include The Men Who Stare at Goats made into a major motion picture in 2009. The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry and Lost at Sea: The Jon Ronson Mysteries his most recent novel published in October 2012. His journalism and columns have appeared in British publications including The Guardian newspaper City Life and Time Out magazine. He has made several documentary films for television and two documentary series for Channel 4.
