St Paul’s Quartet Beatrix Lovejoy & Catherine Morgan violins Catherine Musker viola Ben Chappell ‘cello Puccini : I Crisantemi Mozart : Quartet in C K465 ‘Dissonance’ Mendelssohn : Quartet in E minor Op.44 No.2 The St. Paul’s Quartet are four London-based chamber musicians all very successful in their own right they are choosing to devote time together to the quartet repertoire… just for the love of it! Beatrix Lovejoy (VIOLIN ) is a Canadian-born violinist who has been living and working in London since 1994. She received a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1992 and completed her ‘Solist mit Konzertexamen’ at the Hochschule ‘Hanns-Eissler’ Berlin in 1994. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Canada the US Germany Poland and Sweden most notably with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Britten Sinfonia. She has performed with most of London’s leading orchestras including the LSO the Philharmonia the LPO the Britten Sinfonia the London Chamber Orchestra the London Mozart Players and the Aurora Orchestra. Catherine Morgan (Violin) has now been a member of the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields for over a decade. She has been part of many wonderful performances as section member principal and at times soloist with some of the world’s most exciting directors and soloists. She studied music at Oxford University and then performance at the Royal College of Music garnering many prizes including a Park Lane Award the first Manoug Parikian prize for Violin from the Musician’s Benevolent Fund and the RCM’s Jacqueline Du Pre prize for string playing. Born in rural Pembrokeshire Helen Patterson (VIOLA ) completed her musical studies in London and Vienna. After taking a short break to complete a History degree at Cambridge University she resumed her freelance career in London playing with a variety of groups including The Academy of St Martin in the Fields The London Symphony Orchestra and The Fibonacci Sequence. For about 5 years she was Principal Second Violin in the Philharmonia Orchestra and often guests as Principal in other orchestras such as the London Philharmonic. She plays both violin and viola. Ben Chappell (’cello) studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London where he won the Toissaint Prize and the Chamber music prize. He is principal cellist of the orchestra for Ballet Rambert Rambert Dance Company which involves performing everything from solo Bach Suites to staged improvised work with the dancers. Ben has coached people of all ages cellists chamber musicians youth orchestra and MBA students in the world of music making. He regularly takes part in recordings of film soundtracks and albums for many leading artists from Robbie Williams to U2 and award winning film composers Rob Lane and Hans Zimmer. £9 tickets £4 for full-time students (free entry for under-16s) Doors open at 17.30.
