Sunday Concerts: Treske Quartet

The Treske Quartet is an emerging ensemble based in Manchester. Their goal is to curate and perform programmes that include a variety of musical styles by established and emerging composers, and to give audiences radical experiences with new sound worlds. The programme for their Conway Hall début is no exception, in its combination of two canonic quartets by Haydn and Mendelssohn, alongside American composer Gabriella Smith’s 2015 work, Carrot Revolution, commissioned by the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia and Stravinsky’s Three Pieces, originally for piano duet and one of the few works Stravinsky composed for string quartet.

Haydn | Quartet in D Op.20/4
Stravinsky | 3 Pieces for string quartet
Gabriella Smith | Carrot Revolution
Mendelssohn | Quartet in F minor Op.80

Oliver Baily • violin
Mollie Wrafter • violin
Abigail Hammett • viola
Robert Wheatley • cello
