We Need to Talk About Oxbridge
20th March 2016 · 11:00am - 1:00pm
In person | Virtual event
In our society, we hold a common view about what Oxbridge is, but are not so clear about what Oxbridge does. For example, how come that this institution is also a multi-billion pound industry? How significant are its links with the Church? Why should the alumni of this institution be at the centre of the UK power structure? And this is not only in parliament, but also in the media and various think tanks across the political spectrum, etc.
Leon Harrison will deconstruct Oxbridge, examine all these links and offer a view which describes what it means to have such an established mindset at the heart of what we call a democracy.
In his professional life Leon Harrison consults in achieving beauty and functionality in landscaped settings but his other passion consists of gaining insights into the factors that shape our country and its culture. To this end he has, over the last 20 years, studied and widely discussed philosophy, art and the UK constitution.
